(KNSI) — Two people were hospitalized after being rescued from their burning home by St. Cloud firefighters Thursday night.

According to authorities, units responded around 7:10 to the house on the 5100 block of 40th Street South after getting a call about heavy black smoke inside. Crews arrived and found the two trapped on their porch. They quickly pulled them to safety and provided immediate first aid until Mayo Ambulance arrived, bringing the two to CentraCare St. Cloud Hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries is not known.

Crews then rushed inside and searched the home to make sure no one else was trapped. Neighboring departments, including Rockville, St. Augusta, Sartell and Waite Park, responded for mutual aid.

The fire was knocked down, but not before part of the floor gave way. Firefighters remained on scene well into the overnight hours.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the St. Cloud Fire Marshal’s Office.
