(KNSI) — A bird of prey from St. Cloud and her mate are back on the new and improved Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ Falcon Cam.
The new camera has a sharper picture and, for the first time in its 16 year history, sound.
The 14-year-old peregrine falcon fledged here, but has nested in the box since 2016. Not much is known about her male costar this season. In 2024 and 2025, it was the same one.
The two lovebirds have been captured demonstrating courtship and preparing for eggs by creating a nest in downtown St. Paul by digging out a shallow bowl in the gravel, called a scrape, where she will soon lay eggs. In 2025, the first egg appeared on March 31st. Female falcons typically lay three to four eggs per season.
Viewers can then watch the pair incubate the eggs and rear the chicks through the spring.
