(KNSI) — The St. Cloud City Council is holding a public hearing Monday on a proposal to rezone a property on a site that has changed hands and purpose several times in recent years.

The request would rezone 14 and 16 McLeland Road from C5, Highway Commercial, back to I3, Planned Industrial District. The property is the former Fingerhut and CompuCredit call center and is adjacent to St. Cloud Apollo High School.

The council rezoned the property to Highway Commercial in May 2025 to accommodate a multi-purpose entertainment venue, but that project never came to fruition. The current applicant is now looking to sell the property to a cannabis production facility, which requires industrial zoning.

City planner Matt Glaesman is recommending approval.

The St. Cloud Planning Commission unanimously backed the rezoning following a public hearing in February.

If approved, any use permitted under I3 zoning could move forward without an additional public hearing. The rezoning requires a simple majority of four votes of the full City Council.

The meeting gets underway at 6:00 at St. Cloud City Hall.
