(KNSI) — The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory in place starting at 6:00 Friday evening through 6:00 Saturday morning.
Forecasters say after rounds of rain move through this morning, a second round is expected this afternoon and will transition to a sloppy mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow, that will start in western Minnesota and spread eastward as the day wears on. It will change to all wet, heavy snow through the evening and overnight hours, then end Saturday morning.
Total snow accumulations of around an inch are expected, but it’s the sleet and freezing rain that could make travel slick around the region. Drivers are urged to slow down and exercise caution. Stairs, sidewalks and parking lots may also be slippery.
