(KNSI) – The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office has selected Hyper-Reach as its new mass emergency notification system, replacing the previous Code Red platform, and is encouraging residents to enroll.
The system is designed to deliver rapid notifications during hazardous and urgent situations, reaching thousands of targeted households within seconds. Alerts can be sent via phone calls, text messages, email, and TTY/TDD service for the hearing impaired. The platform can also extend alerts through social media, Alexa-enabled smart speakers, browser notifications, and FEMA’s Wireless Emergency Alert system, which reaches most mobile phones manufactured since 2011.
The county plans to use Hyper-Reach primarily for alerts related to weather and environmental hazards, criminal activity, and missing persons.
Residents with landline phones are automatically enrolled to receive community alerts, but weather alerts to landlines and all alerts to VoIP phones, mobile phones, and email addresses require manual enrollment.
To sign up, residents can call or text “Alert” to (763) 247-4717, or visit hyperreach.com/mnsherburnesignup.html.
Those with Alexa-enabled smart speakers can also receive alerts by saying “Alexa, enable Hyper-Reach” and following the on-screen instructions. A Hyper-Reach Anywhere app is also available for download on smartphones.
