(KNSI) – A local college campus will host its second annual Polar Plunge later this month to help young athletes reach their dreams and compete this summer.
The St. Cloud State University Polar Plunge, presented by Affinity Plus, benefits Special Olympics Minnesota, with all funds going directly to support thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities across the state.
Students, staff, and other community members will brave the chilly waters on Friday, March 20th, starting at 4:00 p.m. on the north side of M Lot outside Halenbeck Hall, 1000 4th Ave South in St. Cloud.
Registration is currently open for anyone interested in taking the plunge. Participants can register as solo plungers, join an existing team, or start a team of their own.
Last year’s inaugural event was held in front of the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center and drew nearly 50 plungers who raised more than $7,000 for the cause. Organizers are hoping to more than double that with a goal of $15,000.
As an added incentive, the first 50 registrants who use the promo code AFFINITYPLUSSCSU will receive a $26 donation toward their fundraising goal.
