(KNSI) – Stearns County Parks is inviting the public to lace up their boots and head into the woods this Saturday for the Wildwood Ranch Snowstomp.
It’s a hands-on community event to help create snowshoe trails in preparation for the upcoming maple syrup season. The event takes place Saturday, February 21st, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Wildwood Ranch Maple Syrup Sugar House, located at 29709 Kipper Road in St. Joseph.
Participants will spend the afternoon tramping through the woods alongside Stearns County Parks staff, packing down snowshoe trails that will serve the park’s maple syrup operation as the season gets underway. It’s a rare chance for community members to play a direct role in one of winter’s most beloved traditions, getting the sugar bush ready before the sap starts running.
No registration is required to attend, and refreshments will be provided. A limited number of snowshoes will be available for those who don’t have their own, so organizers encourage attendees to arrive ready to get moving.
Participants are advised to dress warmly for the two-hour outdoor activity.
The event is free and open to all ages.
