(KNSI) – Two teenagers suffered injuries after a three-car collision in LeSauk Township caused by a distracted driver.
First responders were called to the intersection of Riverside Avenue North and 27th Street North around 3:45 on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived on scene and found three vehicles blocking the intersection with significant damage. Investigators say an 18-year-old from Sartell was heading north on Riverside Avenue when he rear-ended a car driven by a 17-year-old, also from Sartell. The crash caused the 18-year-old’s vehicle to careen into the opposite lane, causing a head-on crash with a 46-year-old driver from Grey Eagle.
The 18-year-old suffered a head injury around his nasal area. He was taken by family to CentraCare-St. Cloud Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 17-year-old was treated at the scene. The driver from Grey Eagle wasn’t hurt.
The cause of the crash is believed to be driver distraction, though officials didn’t say what the distraction was or if a ticket was issued.
