(KNSI) — Some of the biggest names in country and rock n’ roll history get a tribute in February at the Paramount Center for the Arts.
Taking the stage on Thursday, the 12th, will be an act dedicated to Willie Nelson. Michael Moore brings the headband, dinged-up guitar, and braided hair that make it look like the infamous Texan is here in the Granite City. The heartfelt homage to country’s most notorious outlaw has two showtimes, 1:30 and 7:30 p.m.
On the 19th, Anthony Shore pours his heart and soul into his impression of Elvis Presley. Backed by a 14-piece band, Shore brings the King’s singular style to a matinee show. By the end of the 1:30 p.m. concert, those in attendance will be ready to say, “Thank you. Thank you very much.”
The real deal takes the stage on Friday, February 20th. Tiffany, the iconic pop star who was the youngest female artist ever to top the Billboard charts, makes a visit. She had two number one hits, including her cover of Tommy James’ “I Think We’re Alone Now.” She has been a fixture on the radio since her debut in 1987. Tiffany will pull the best tunes from her 11 albums, which have grown to include rock and country influences over the years.
February starts with the GREAT Theatre caught in the beat. School of Rock runs from January 23rd to February 8th. The Youth Chorale of Central MN has its annual Big Bang fundraiser on Sunday, February 22nd.
For those looking for something other than a concert, a couple of variety acts are peppered throughout the calendar. The Peking Acrobats perform their Chinese circus-inspired routine on Saturday, February 14th. With traditional music performed by live musicians in the background and the spice of high-tech special effects to enhance the troupe’s gravity-defying stunts, it is a show that won’t soon be forgotten. Trick-cycling, precision tumbling, gymnastics, and more are all planned.
The month ends with one of the biggest headlining acts on land and sea. Buckets N Boards is a favorite in Branson, Missouri, and on Disney Cruises. Matthew Levingston and Gareth Sever combine wacky songs, upbeat drumming, and even some tap dancing into a high-energy, all-ages show.
