Two top city officials from Sartell got to make the pitch for a high-priority bonding project to Governor Tim Walz in person this week. The City of Sartell Facebook page says Mayor Ryan Fitzhum and Administrator Anna Gruber were invited to the governor’s office at the State Capitol to discuss their vision for a Central Minnesota Healthcare Hub. The plan would build up roads, utility infrastructure, and new housing, both residential and multi-family, along the border with St. Cloud.

A national housing expert gave the city of St. Cloud a recommendation for how to make homes more affordable. Tobias Peter, co-director of the American Enterprise Institute Housing Center, presented his recommendations at a housing summit on Wednesday.

Minneapolis officials are speaking out against Immigration and Customs Enforcement after they arrested an American citizen as part of Opertaion Metro Surge. The operation is meant to round up those who are in the country illegally. Last week, federal agents slammed a 20-year-old man against a metal door, threw him on the ground and put him into a chokehold in the snow. The man, who would only give his first name as Mubashir, is of Somali descent, but he’s a U.S. citizen. Police Chief Brian O’Hara condemned the incident saying he was only arrested because of his race. His citizenship was confirmed by both Mayor Jacob Frey and O’Hara on Wednesday.

Anthony Sledwards needs a teammate, and the Department of Transportation is asking the public to come up with their best, punniest, and most Minnesota monikers to do it. The wildly popular Name a Snowplow Contest is back. Witty, unique, winter-friendly, or Minnesota-centric names are encouraged, but keep it clean, nonpartisan and nonpolitical. And, speaking of ANT, the Minnesota Timberwolves look to get back in the win column when they go up against the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center tomorrow night. Tip off is at 9:00.

The Minnesota Vikings are banged up heading into Week 15. Left tackle Christian Darrisaw and tight end TJ Hockenson both missed practice with injuries yesterday. Meanwhile, six other players were limited participants, including running back Aaron Jones and wide receiver Jordan Addison. The Purple take on the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.
