(KNSI) — The Central Minnesota Community Foundation awarded $40,000 in grants to eight local organizations supporting people with special needs and programs for boys and men.
Four grants totaling $30,000 went to special needs programming serving people with complex intellectual and physical disabilities. ConnectAbility of MN received $4,100 for assistive technology access through its AEC and AT Lab. Sartell Area Lions got $10,000 for an ADA restroom with an adult changing table and a wheelchair-accessible picnic shelter. True Friends was awarded $7,500 for therapeutic and adaptive riding for children with developmental and physical disabilities. WASCOSA received $8,400 for adaptive equipment.
The foundation’s Boys and Men’s Fund awarded four grants of $2,500 each to programs addressing educational disparities, mental health stigma, fatherhood support and career development. Rivers of Hope received funding for its Men Moving Forward program. The Yes Network was awarded a grant to create mental health and education workshops for teen boys. United Way of Central Minnesota got funding for community mentorship supporting young Black men. What Would Bri Do received a grant to support grief and loss programs for boys and men.
Since 1985, the Central Minnesota Community Foundation has grown to $177.7 million in assets and awarded $178.6 million in grants to nonprofits. The foundation is part of CommunityGiving, a network of community foundations that collectively administers over 1,300 funds totaling more than $283 million in assets.
