(KNSI) — St. Cloud Police arrested a 20-year-old Waite Park man early Tuesday morning after finding stolen guns and illegal weapon modifications during a search of his apartment.
Officers from the Community Response Team executed a search warrant around 5:30 a.m. at an apartment in the 300 block of 2nd Avenue South in Waite Park as part of an ongoing firearms investigation. During the search, investigators found five guns, including one that had been reported stolen, along with a device called a switch that converts a semi-automatic handgun into a fully automatic weapon.
The suspect was booked into the Stearns County Jail, where he’s being held pending charges related to possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a machine gun.
The Community Response Team was assisted by St. Cloud’s SWAT team, the Criminal Investigation Unit, and the Waite Park Police Department. No one was injured during the operation.
KNSI News does not typically name suspects until they have been formally charged.
