(KNSI) – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has proclaimed Friday, January 9th, as a Day of Unity, calling on Minnesotans and Americans across the country to honor the memory of Renee Nicole Good.
The governor is encouraging all Minnesotans to participate in the day of remembrance by observing a moment of silence at 10:00 a.m. and engaging in acts of service throughout the day.
The proclamation comes as a tribute to Good, described by Governor Walz as “a loving mother, partner, daughter, and neighbor whose life was defined by compassion, creativity, and care for others. While we cannot bring back Renee Nicole Good, we can honor her life by standing together for decency, democracy, compassion, and our shared values,” Governor Walz said in a statement announcing the Day of Unity.
“I invite all Minnesotans and Americans to join me in a day of unity, and honoring her with a moment of silence and participating in acts of service,” Walz said.
The governor’s office is calling on individuals, businesses, faith institutions, and community organizations to use Friday as an opportunity to connect with their communities and contribute through volunteer work and service projects.
