(KNSI) – The Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer who fatally shot a Minneapolis woman earlier this week has been identified as Jonathan Ross, according to information released by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
Noem did not explicitly name Ross as the shooter but referenced an incident last June in which the officer was injured while on duty. A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson confirmed that Noem was referring to an incident in Bloomington, and court records from that case identified the officer as Ross.
The fatal shooting occurred when Renee Good was killed during an ICE enforcement operation. According to Vice President JD Vance, who addressed the incident from the White House Press Room on Thursday, Good attempted to ram the agent with her vehicle.
Court documents from the June 2025 incident show Ross suffered serious injuries when his arm became trapped in a vehicle’s window as a driver attempted to flee the arrest. He was dragged approximately 100 yards, suffering cuts that required dozens of stitches.
Speaking alongside White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Vance characterized Good as “part of the left-wing network” and attributed the incident to what he called “the radical far-left that has demonized ICE and other law enforcement.”
The Vice President also criticized media coverage of the shooting, though he did not specify which outlets or reports he was referencing.
The incident has drawn national attention as debates continue over immigration enforcement and the use of force by federal agents.
