(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Transportation has awarded millions in competitive grants to local transportation projects, including significant funding for the City of St. Cloud and Meeker County.
The awards were part of $76.2 million in grants distributed to more than two dozen transportation projects statewide. The programs support infrastructure improvements designed to enhance freight safety, improve access to transportation networks, strengthen railroad and intermodal facilities, and upgrade connections throughout the state’s transportation system.
The St. Cloud Area Planning Organization received $1.5 million through the Corridors of Commerce Readiness Advancement program for planning and project development to improve Highway 15 between Highway 23 and Highway 10. The program provides funding for planning, scoping, and predesign work on future projects to improve capacity and freight movement.
