(KNSI) – Faith groups are partnering together to help alleviate a surge in homelessness in the St. Cloud area.
Faith in Housing will partner with Place of Hope, Lincoln Center, and the Salvation Army to offer overflow housing. The program will run seven days a week through the end of April.
Stemming from a homelessness summit held in November at Atonement Lutheran Church, which attracted 100 people, the group is looking to mobilize volunteers to add extra cots and mats once the facilities fill up, ensuring no one has to risk frostbite by sleeping outside in the cold.
Volunteers are also needed to shuttle the homeless to the Overflow Compassion Shelter in a van that the group has provided. A link to enroll to help out is here.
