(KNSI) – Students from Cathedral High School’s National Honor Society have delivered a heartwarming gift to patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment at Coborn Cancer Center.
According to the CentraCare Foundation, Nora Simones and Jayden Layne organized and assembled 40 care packages designed to provide comfort and support. Each curated bag contains items meant to ease the challenges of chemotherapy sessions, including a cozy blanket, warm socks, an eye mask for rest, hand lotion, a pen, and an adult coloring book to pass the time during treatment. The students also included pocket hug tokens and messages of community support, adding a personal touch that reminds patients they are not alone in their fight.
The foundation says the project demonstrates the positive impact young people can have in their community when they choose to serve others. They say that for patients facing the difficult journey of cancer treatment, these simple yet meaningful items offer both practical comfort and emotional encouragement.
