(KNSI) – Several businesses have asked about the electronic recycling program at the Stearns County Household Waste Facility, prompting officials to clarify that it is not free for companies.

The program will begin on January 5th, available to residents of Stearns County, as well as Benton, Mille Lacs, and Sherburne Counties. There is no cost except for devices with screens, which carry a $10 fee before they will be accepted.

For businesses, they can qualify for the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Very Small Quantity Generator Program. Companies must schedule an appointment for the drop-off of electronic waste. The fees are based on the weight and category of the items. Officials provide a Certificate of Disposal after payment is complete.

The program is run out of the Stearns County Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 3601 5th Street South in Waite Park. It is located about three blocks south of the license center.
