(KNSI) – The Jolly Trolley is making its rounds this week with an extra stop in its mission to restock area food shelves for the holidays.

Community members are encouraged to bring either cash or non-perishable food items to a handful of area grocery stores starting today (Monday, December 15th), at Lunds and Byerlys. On Tuesday, December 16th, it will chug over to Coborn’s on Cooper in St. Cloud, then jet to Cash Wise in Waite Park on Wednesday the 17th, and end at Coborn’s in downtown Sauk Rapids on Thursday the 18th.

The trolley takes the form of a Metro Bus, ready to be packed to the gills with boxes and cans from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. each day.

Last year, more than 9,700 pounds of food and $1,800 were raised.

Metro Bus CEO Ryan Daniel says, “We are so appreciative of the opportunity to serve St. Cloud, Sartell, Sauk Rapids and Waite Park, and the Jolly Trolley is an impactful way for Metro Bus and our partners to give back to our communities.”

The Jolly Trolley has been going for 16 years now.
