(KNSI) — Anthony Sledwards needs a teammate, and the Department of Transportation is asking the public to come up with their best, punniest, and most Minnesota monikers as the wildly popular Name a Snowplow Contest is back.

Witty, unique, winter-friendly, or Minnesota-centric names are encouraged, but keep it clean. Any submissions that include profanity or other inappropriate language will not be considered. Naming snowplows is meant to be fun and lighthearted, so the contest will be nonpartisan and nonpolitical. Politically themed submissions and names that play on a politician’s name will also not be considered. Each person may only submit one name, and submissions are limited to no more than 30 characters, including letters and spaces.

Submit your ideas here. The contest is open until noon on December 19th. Finalists will be named in January 2026.

The contest began in 2020 with Plowy McPlowFace, Ope, Just Gonna Plow Right Past Ya, Duck Duck Orange Truck, Plow Bunyan, Snowbi Wan Kenobi, F. Salt Fitzgerald, Darth Blader, and The Truck Formerly Known As Plow chosen as the inaugural class. The winners for this year are We’re Off To See The Blizzard, Snowtorious B.I.G., Plowabunga!, Anthony Sledwards, You’re Welcome, Don’tcha Snow, Sköl Plow, and I Came, I Thaw, I Conquered.
