(KNSI) — Our latest dumping of snow caused major chaos on the roads, leading to treacherous travel and hundreds of crashes and spinouts.

Between 12:00 p.m. Tuesday and 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, the Minnesota State Patrol responded to 255 property damage crashes, 19 injury crashes, and one fatal crash. Troopers also responded to 17 spinouts, 375 vehicles off the road, and 13 jackknifed semis. That included one incident on eastbound Interstate 94 and Highway 25 in Monticello that led to wooden pallets spilling across all lanes of traffic.

The National Weather Service says the official snow total for St. Cloud as of 7:00 a.m. was 5.9″. Elsewhere, Kimball, Little Falls and St. Augusta all reported 6″, Albany reported 5″, and the highest total was 9″ of snow reported northwest of Vergas.
