(KNSI) – A Sartell woman has thrown her hat in the ring for the Minnesota House of Representatives District 13B seat, seeking to replace the retiring Tim O’Driscoll as the Republican nominee.
Dawn Loberg made her campaign announcement on KNSI on Tuesday, citing her desire to continue serving the community as she approaches retirement from her current position. “About two years ago, I started looking at my retirement. What I kind of feel is missing a little bit if I retire is service. I want to be able, you know, to give back.” She will turn 64 in July. She has lived in Minnesota for 37 years with her husband, Jeff. The couple has been married for 36 years and raised four daughters.
Loberg’s campaign priorities focus on eliminating government waste, removing Minnesota’s tax on Social Security benefits, and making the state more affordable for residents. She points to her work with Enterprise Minnesota and regular meetings with manufacturing company owners as giving her unique insight into regulatory burdens facing small businesses. “I see so much waste in our state government and in the federal government. I work with the state government DEED quite a bit, so I really think there is so much waste in government.”
Her platform emphasizes reforming the relationship between state agencies like OSHA and small businesses, advocating for a more collaborative approach to workplace safety rather than what she describes as an adversarial system focused on fines.
It isn’t Loberg’s first foray into politics. In 2014, she ran for Sartell City Council and finished 76 votes short of winning a seat. She has also worked on several Republican campaigns, including those of former Congressman Mark Kennedy, Julianne Ortman’s Senate campaign, and Kim Crockett’s Secretary of State race.
