(KNSI) – Stearns County Parks and Recreation crews have been busy at Quarry Park packing powder to get the Nordic ski trails open.

The department announced Friday that the tracks are set and the paths are in good condition. The inside loop is set for classic track, with the outside loop dedicated to skate skiing. All multi-use trails at the Waite Park facility are open to hikers, snowshoers, and dog walkers.

The cold temps and wintry weather have not been enough to get the trails at Kraemer Lake-Wildwood County Park, Mississippi River County Park, or Warner Lake County Park ready for skiers yet, but after two years of lost seasons, a pair of polar blasts in November and December has everyone in the central Minnesota cross-country skiing community excited.
