(KNSI) – The Kids Hope Shop is a little over a week away, and the Place of Hope is looking for help to ensure there are plenty of options to choose from.
Over 40 drop boxes are set up around the community for gifts to be left at. Place of Hope’s Pastor Carol tells KNSI Radio what items are needed. “This is about the kids. The kids do the shopping, and we need mom gifts, dad’s gifts, teenage gifts, and all that stuff, and then even kids’ gifts.”
Everything that is donated will be laid out for the children to pick through on December 16th, 17th, or 18th. Pastor Carol says kids chosen for the program have a chance to find the items that are the best fit for their families and fully get into the Christmas spirit.
“They go with the shoppers. They go through, and they pick out a gift for every family member, and they get to have that wrapped, and go home with a quilt made from the women in the community, and have a nice meal before they go.”
Volunteers are needed to pull off the Kids Hope Shop. Sign up here.
Place of Hope also runs an Adopt-A-Family program and another initiative that gives away backpacks on Christmas Eve.
