(KNSI) – The St. Cloud VA Health Care System permanently housed 66 homeless veterans during fiscal year 2025, a local achievement that was part of a record-breaking national effort by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The DVA permanently housed 51,936 homeless veterans across the country in fiscal year 2025. This represents an increase of 4,011 veterans compared to fiscal year 2024, marking the VA’s highest results since it began tracking individual veterans housed rather than total housing placements in 2022. The new methodology ensures a more accurate count of veterans helped.

A significant factor in the improved numbers was the launch of the Getting Veterans Off the Street initiative in May 2025. The program coordinated outreach surge events at every VA health care system across the country, including St. Cloud, to locate unsheltered veterans and connect them with immediate resources.
