The Minnesota State Patrol’s preliminary crash report says it happened just after 7:00 a.m. on Highway 55 at County Road 33 in Rockford Township. A 2019 GMC Acadia, driven by 50-year-old Shawn Slaven, was heading east when it crashed head on into a westbound 2008 Chevy Equinox. Slaven and the Chevy’s driver, 20-year-old Mindimoie Diggines, were both pronounced dead at the scene. Eighteen-year-old Brooke Hoheisel of Freeport suffered life-threatening injuries. A third person in the Equinox was also hurt. Her injuries are considered non-life-threatening.
