(KNSI) – Kelly Doss of St. Cloud will officially launch her campaign for Congress in Minnesota’s Sixth District on Thursday, becoming one of three candidates endorsed by the newly formed Forward Independence Party.

Doss will be introduced at a press conference scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at the State Capitol, along with gubernatorial candidate Mike Newcome and state auditor candidate Jay Reeves, as the party’s first endorsed slate since the merger of the Forward Party of Minnesota and the
Independence Alliance Party.

She brings an academic and nonprofit background to the race, having recently served as Vice President for Development for the Great River Children’s Museum. Doss holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and psychology, along with a master’s degree in political science. She has spent more than a decade in nonprofit leadership and currently runs a life coaching business while serving on several nonprofit boards and Chamber of Commerce committees.

Doss is positioning her independent candidacy as an alternative in a district that hasn’t elected anyone outside the GOP since 2000. It is currently served by Republican Whip Tom Emmer.

Her campaign emphasizes what she calls a grassroots approach to governance, pledging to bring integrity, ethics, and responsiveness to Washington.

Doss has outlined several key policy priorities for her congressional campaign, including universal healthcare, Social Security reform, and addressing the impact of artificial intelligence on the workforce. She also plans to focus on tariff control and comprehensive campaign finance reform, including support for term limits and bans on Congressional stock trading.

Thursday’s press conference will mark the official launch of Doss’s campaign, with each endorsed candidate making brief remarks before taking questions from reporters.
