(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development has included organizations based in Monticello and St. Cloud in the most recent Youth at Work Opportunity Program grant round.

The awards total $4.8 million and are earmarked for 39 organizations across the state, with the goal of training 4,000 young people for their first jobs. The program specifically targets minorities and those with disabilities who are considered economically disadvantaged between 14 and 24 years old.

Career Solutions of St. Cloud will receive $242,000 from DEED, with Central Minnesota Jobs and Training Services, Inc. of Monticello in line for $300,000.

Commissioner Matt Varilek says, “At DEED, we take pride in providing opportunities and assistance for some of our most vulnerable community members. Supporting the youth of today helps ensure Minnesota has a healthy and vibrant workforce tomorrow.”
