(KNSI) — The St. Cloud Public Safety Foundation has announced the creation of the Chief Matt Love Scholarship for Women in Public Safety Professions Fund, with the $67,440 raised through the fire chief’s participation in Dancing with Our Stars earlier this year.
Public Safety Foundation Executive Director Jennifer Odette shared the vision with KNSI News and who they want to help. “We want it to be something that will extend into the future and an opportunity for our women first responders to be able to look for help when they’re looking to gain leadership and education and to move up into different ranks in their professions.”
The scholarship is currently in its early stages, with a committee being assembled this month to establish application procedures and award criteria. Specific details will be revealed once the framework is finalized and applications should be accepted starting sometime next year.
Odette expressed deep gratitude for Love’s fundraising efforts and commitment to first responders. “He is pure love, and he truly cares about first responders and their success. We couldn’t be more proud to have partnered with him. And we’re so honored.”
The foundation hopes the scholarship will attract additional donations to ensure it remains available to women first responders for years to come.
