(KNSI) – A domestic assault call Saturday afternoon turned into a four-hour standoff in St. Cloud.
According to a press release from the St. Cloud Police Department, officers responded to a call around 3:40 p.m. at a home on the 200 block of 20th Avenue North. A 35-year-old man at the address had allegedly beaten and threatened a 29-year-old woman. During the investigation, the man refused to surrender to police and the St. Cloud SWAT team was called in to assist. When he still wouldn’t come out, officers obtained a search warrant, and around 7:40, they gained entry and arrested him.
Police say the suspect was intoxicated and taken to CentraCare-St. Cloud Hospital for the treatment of minor injuries he suffered when he fell during the arrest. He was then booked into the Stearns County jail. He is being held on potential charges of misdemeanor domestic assault and threats of violence.
KNSI News doesn’t typically name suspects until they’re formally charged.
