(KNSI) – The Walk to End Alzheimer’s in St. Cloud raised nearly $112,000 last month.
The October 11th event brought together walkers, donors and sponsors to support the Alzheimer’s Association’s local programming and advance dementia research nationwide.
Leading the fundraising team was Rock 4 Alzheimer’s, which brought in more than $19,000. That chunk, along with other donations, will directly support those living with the disease or caring for someone who is. According to the association, Alzheimer’s affects 101,900 people in Minnesota, with another 166,000 serving as caregivers.
The Alzheimer’s Association reports nationally, around 7.2 million people are living with the disease, which ranks as a leading cause of death in the United States. They say an estimated 11 million unpaid caregivers support them.
The association continues to accept donations for the St. Cloud walk through December 31st. Those interested in helping, click here.
