(KNSI) — CentraCare is hosting an International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day event later this month.
The gathering is Saturday, November 22nd, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at CentraCare Plaza, 1900 CentraCare Circle in St. Cloud, in the Windfeldt Room. Participants should use the Woodlands Entrance and follow the signs to the Lower Level.
A press release from CentraCare says the event will provide a space for connection, healing, and remembrance for anyone affected by suicide loss. It will include a video from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention that shares personal stories of hope and healing. There will also be time for group sharing and information about resources specifically for suicide loss survivors.
Research shows that for every person who dies by suicide, around 100 people are left grieving their loss. That means about five million people each year become new loss survivors after losing someone they cared about to suicide.
Registrations are being handled through the AFSP website by clicking here.
For suicide loss survivors or those supporting someone who is, CentraCare’s Suicide Prevention information page has additional resources. If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988. Veterans can call that number and press 1.
