(KNSI) – Catholic Charities Emergency Services Food Shelf is asking for donations to add flavor to charitable giving this holiday season with its annual Spice Drive.
Some of the spices in demand include allspice, cumin, coriander, cardamom, turmeric, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, ginger, and vanilla.
From now through December 31st, unopened, new dried herbs and spices can be dropped off at St. Cloud Financial Credit Union’s St. Cloud branch located at 3030 1st Street South in St. Cloud during business hours between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The credit union is co-sponsoring the event.
According to a press release, the donations help the food shelf maintain old-thyme family traditions, encourage creative and nutritious cooking.
While herbs and spices are especially appreciated, they also welcome donations of cupboard staples and shelf-stable proteins to help families put food on their tables. Cash donations also help tremendously as food shelves are able to stretch their dollars further thanks to partnerships with area grocery distributors.
