(KNSI) – Undefeated Holy Angels proved too much for St. Cloud Cathedral in the Class A boys’ soccer state championship match Friday night.

The Crusaders were making their title game debut, and the honeymoon period lasted for barely 90 seconds. Holy Angels scored early and often, eventually pushing the lead to 4-0 in the second half. Cathedral didn’t throw in the towel, though, and played hard to the final whistle.

The Crusaders got two late tallies on the Stars to fall, 4-2. One of the goals was notched by forward Jacob Oliver, who finishes 2025 with a single-season record 56 scores.

Holy Angels has now won 33 straight games. For Cathedral soccer, it was the culmination of an incredible year where success was plentiful for the boys’ and girls’ squads. The ladies were eliminated in the state semifinal by (2) Watertown-Mayer in a match that went to a shootout. The Crusaders dropped it by the slimmest of margins, 4-3.
