Body Found in Mississippi River Saturday is Identified

(KNSI) – Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office investigators have identified a body found floating in the Mississippi River near the Beaver Islands on Saturday.

A pair of kayakers first reported the dead man to authorities around 1:00 p.m. Rescue efforts pulled him from the water. Assisting were the St. Cloud Police and Fire Departments.

The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office determined the body was 20-year-old Abdishakur Abdifatah Ahmed of St. Cloud. The press release says there are no obvious signs of trauma to Ahmed, and foul play is not suspected. An investigation is still ongoing into the cause of death.
