(KNSI) – The Foley Falcons Girls’ Tennis Team was grounded Wednesday in the Class A state semifinal.

Foley entered the tournament as the three seed, winning its quarterfinal against Montevideo, 5-2 on Tuesday, which set up a contest against St. James with a spot in the championship match on the line. Foley struggled to get anything going, losing 4-0, all in straight sets.

The best individual result was a set in which the Foley player lost six games to three. Each matchup involves up to four singles matches and three doubles, making them effectively a best-of-seven situation. Once St. James swept the opening four matches, it was over.
