(KNSI) – It finally feels like fall in St. Cloud, leading to the end of outdoor dining downtown.

The temporary patios along 5th Avenue South will be put away for the season on Tuesday. The closure will affect 5th Avenue South between West St. Germain Street and 1st Street South from 6:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

According to the public works department, the temporary closure is necessary to safely dismantle the barriers put in place this spring. Outdoor eating is now a staple of live in downtown St. Cloud. The tables first appeared during the pandemic to allow restaurants to remain open, and became so popular, they stayed.

Businesses in the affected area will remain open during the closure, though access may be limited.

City officials announced that no detour route will be posted during the closure.
