(KNSI) — The Cold Spring Fire Department is hosting an open house on October 11th to show off the new fire hall, just over a year after ground for it was broken.
Plans for it started in 2021, with public meetings held in 2022, as the current building was too small to be effective. In September of 2024, the city council approved selling $8.4 million in general obligations to finance it. With State Bank of Cold Spring stepping up as one of the largest bidders for the project, it was clear the community was on board to buy in. Groundbreaking was held on October 9th, 2024.
The open house starts with a ribbon cutting at 2:00 and runs until 6:00 p.m. Department officials say the event will allow the public to tour the newly constructed facility, enjoy a wide variety of activities for the open house and fire prevention week, such as checking out the trucks and equipment, plus a meet and greet with firefighters. Refreshments will be provided.
The fire hall is at 109 Main Street.
