(KNSI) — The St. Cloud VA Medical Center is offering multiple ways for enrolled veterans to get their free flu shots this season, with several clinic options scheduled throughout October.
Veterans can receive flu shots during most of their regular VA appointments, although some services, such as imaging and lab work, don’t provide vaccinations.
The VA doesn’t schedule appointments specifically for flu shots alone, so for veterans without upcoming appointments, the St. Cloud facility is hosting walk-in clinics at Building 96. The clinic will be open on Monday, October 6th, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and again on Tuesday, October 7th, Thursday, October 9th, Wednesday, October 15th, and Thursday, October 16th. There’s also an evening session on Friday, October 17th, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., plus a weekend option on Saturday, October 18th, from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
Veterans planning to take advantage of the walk-through clinics should bring their Veterans Health Identification Card, wear short sleeves for easy access, and be prepared to complete a brief health questionnaire before getting vaccinated.
Flu shot access is also being extended through the VA’s Community Care Network, allowing eligible veterans to get free vaccinations at over 70,000 retail pharmacies and urgent care locations nationwide through April 30th, 2026. Veterans can find participating locations using the VA Locator website and should call ahead to confirm vaccine availability. When visiting community locations, Veterans need to show government-issued ID and tell staff they’re enrolled with the VA.
These community care flu shots don’t count toward urgent care visit limits and are copay-free when received at in-network providers. Veterans who get vaccinated outside the VA system are asked to let their VA care team know.
