(KNSI) – The Sartell Lions Club is celebrating fall in true central Minnesota fashion by tapping into the area’s German roots.

Oktoberfest is scheduled for Saturday from 12:00-6:00 p.m. in the Coborn’s Liquor parking lot at 1710 Pinecone Road South. The family-friendly event will have a variety of kids’ activities, plus a food and beer menu that fits the culture.

Come dressed up, as there will be prizes given away for those who can best pull off lederhosen or dirndl dresses. Adding to the Bavarian ambiance is a live polka band providing the day’s entertainment.

Proceeds from Oktoberfest will go towards the second phase of improvements to the inclusive playground at Lions Park in Sartell. The club is trying to raise $100,000 for an accessible shelter and restroom area. As of now, the only bathroom at the facility is a porta-potty on the far end of the property, well away from the play area.
