(KNSI) – A shed fire on Wednesday evening in rural Melrose resulted in a total loss of the building and all equipment stored inside.

According to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews were called to a home and business on the 38-thousand block of Thunder Road in Millwood Township at 7:20 p.m. after receiving reports of a structure fire with visible flames and smoke.

When deputies arrived, they found heavy smoke billowing from the shed and extensive fire damage throughout. The building housed several pieces of equipment, including a skid loader that the owner reportedly used for several hours daily.

The property owner was not home when the fire occurred.

Multiple fire departments responded to battle the blaze, including crews from Freeport, Sauk Centre, Albany, and Melrose fire departments.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
