(KNSI) – Leaders in Cold Spring say they have heard the concerns of residents and are significantly reducing a planned tax increase for 2026.
At Wednesday’s city council meeting, they approved a preliminary budget that would see a bump in tax bills of less than one-third of what was originally expected. Administrator Kris Dockendorf gives the details. “So, if you remember, we were looking at a 10.5% increase. They got that down to 3.3%.”
Dockendorf explains how they brought the figure down so significantly. “They made some cuts to equipment purchases in the streets department.”
The final budget will be passed in December. The other major item for the council on Wednesday was a look at concepts for the city hall remodel project that will take place in 2026.
The next council meeting is on September 24th.
