(KNSI) – An Avon-based clean energy company has signed an agreement to deploy dozens of AI-powered construction robots on solar projects nationwide.

Blattner, one of the nation’s leading renewable energy builders and a subsidiary of Quanta Services, has signed a three-year partnership with Built Robotics, a San Francisco-based construction AI company. The self-guided machines will handle some of construction’s most hazardous tasks, such as pile driving, surveying, material handling, drilling, and trenching.

According to the companies, it’s work that traditionally puts humans at risk of serious injuries from heavy machinery, falling objects, and repetitive strain.

“Safety is our number one priority,” said Brandon Bruski, Vice President of Solar at Blattner. “This technology allows our workers to avoid direct exposure to pile driving operations while maintaining the quality and timelines our projects demand. Our crews can now operate equipment from much safer distances.”

The robots aren’t just theoretical-they’re already working. Built Robotics CEO Noah Ready-Campbell revealed that the AI-powered machines have already been deployed on five Blattner projects, with impressive results. Their use is one of the largest commitments to construction robotics in the renewable energy sector to date, potentially reshaping how solar farms are built across the United States.

The robots have an “8-Layer Safety System,” featuring AI-powered personnel detection and geofence barriers that create virtual safety zones around active equipment. The system has a perfect safety record across multiple sites.
