(KNSI) – Drivers in the St. Joseph area can now navigate through a newly completed roundabout, marking the completion of the first phase of a major road construction project.

The roundabout, at the intersection of County Highway 133 and Elm Street, opened from three directions, east, west, and north, last week. However, drivers should prepare for continued construction disruptions as phase two of the project started on Tuesday. The next phase will focus on construction work extending from Elm Street to County State Aid Highway 75, along with turn lane improvements on CSAH 75.

A new traffic detour has been set up for phase two of the project. County officials are encouraging motorists to take an alternate route during the construction to minimize travel delays. Construction schedules and completion dates remain subject to weather conditions, which could potentially impact the timeline for phase two work.

The roundabout project is part of ongoing efforts by Stearns County to improve traffic safety and flow at key intersections throughout the region.

Motorists with questions or concerns about the construction project can contact the Stearns County Highway Department for additional information and updates on construction progress.
