(KNSI) – A steel processing plant in Paynesville was one of three companies statewide selected by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development for business expansion grants.

DEED earmarked $175,000 from its Job Creation Fund and another $325,000 out of the Minnesota Investment Fund for a project at Louis Industries. The proposed work would add office and manufacturing space, 42,000 square feet in total. Louis Industries is chipping in $7.7 million of its own cash to the effort.

The hope is to see an additional 15 people hired within two years of the expansion being completed. The other projects selected by DEED were for Boston Scientific in Maple Grove and West Fraser in Solway.
