(KNSI) – Local children and teenagers will have the chance to soar through the skies this Saturday morning as the Young Eagles aviation program offers free airplane rides designed to spark interest in flying among the next generation.
The St. Cloud Young Eagles chapter will provide flights for youth ages eight to 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. Cloud Regional Airport. The program currently has around 60 open spots available for participants.
Parents interested in signing up their children have to pre-register online, and a parent or guardian must be present at the event to sign a required consent form on-site. Airport signage will direct families to the appropriate parking areas.
The Young Eagles program launched nationally in 1992 with a mission to introduce young people to aviation through their first-ever flight experience. Since its inception, more than 2.3 million children and teenagers across the United States have participated in the program.
Families with questions about the local Young Eagles program can contact coordinator Chip Sauers at 320-248-8384 or via email at chip2003@charter.net.
