(KNSI) – A local company is still alive in the MN Cup, put on by the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.

The prestigious competition initially places the entrants in one of eight divisions. Impacks was able to come out on top in the Education and Training category. The St. Cloud-based organization secures $25,000 and still has a chance at the $50,000 grand prize in October.

Impacks leverages bulk buying to create customized school supply kits. Each one is stuffed with enough items to last one student for an entire year. They are tailored to individual classrooms. The kits cost $60, less than half the average spent by parents on school supplies each year.

Impacks also runs online drives, working with nonprofits and private businesses to pool resources and stretch Impacks’ model even further. On top of its run in the MN Cup, it was already named the Emerging Business Innovation Award by the Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation.

Impacks was founded in 2020.
