(KNSI) – St. Cloud Toyota is turning in treaded tires for rubber soled running shoes on Saturday, September 13th, to benefit the INDY Foundation.

The Second Annual Make A Difference 5K will take place at Kleinfelter Park in St. Joseph. Organizer Mitch Evens explains why a partnership with the INDY Foundation just makes sense. “INDY is raising money for people, again, in our community, that are dealing with it right now, that need the money now. They don’t need us to help prevent cancer in the future. They need to make their car payment, their mortgage payments…live their life.”

The shorter 1K race has a superhero theme. Everyone registered gets a free cape courtesy of El-Jay Plumbing and Heating. It’s followed by a stretch led by KPower Yoga and the 5K run. Medals will be handed out to the first 150 5K finishers. The top runner in the men’s and women’s divisions will receive a $100 Scheels gift card.

Evens relays it is more than just a race, not only for its impact in the community, but the wide range of family-friendly activities that are planned to go with it. “We’re going to have Michael Shynes there with live music. We have Bad Habit selling beer, Gary’s Pizza, we’re going to have ice cream and all kinds of the good stuff. There’s bounce houses for kids. So, it’ll be a good time, even if you just want to come out and join the crowd.”
