(KNSI) – The Sauk Rapids City Council is expected to resubmit two projects to the state for consideration in next year’s bonding bill.
Tucked in the consent agenda of Monday’s meeting is a measure asking the Minnesota Management and Budget Office for help with PFAS abatement and fully funding a new athletic complex at Mayhew Creek Park. Sauk Rapids made the same requests in the last legislative session. Bonding proposals are due by September 17th.
Sauk Rapids will need to spend around $3.5 million to drill new wells to replace the ones contaminated with forever chemicals. In terms of Mayhew Creek Park, the Sauk Rapids Youth Baseball Association has already installed new little league fields. The Sauk Rapids-Rice School District successfully took a referendum to voters in February that would allow it to put in a pair of multipurpose turf fields near the high school. The district will also be constructing a new early childhood learning center at the site.
The hope is to have the state match the money spent locally to give the complex varsity high school football and hockey stadiums.
Monday’s meeting starts at 6:00 p.m.
