(KNSI) – St. Cloud State University administration is excited for the start of classes on campus Monday.

Interim President Larry Dietz released a video on Facebook to kick off his final semester as the head of the school. His greeting went out to new, returning, and transfer students. He warmly states, “We’re thrilled to have you here. This year brings exciting opportunities to learn, grow, and shape the future together.”

Dietz says late summer and the cracking open of textbooks again is a revitalizing time for the university. “Our campus is ready. Our faculty and staff are energized, and we can’t wait to see what you’ll accomplish.”

Dietz’s message was filmed in front of the Husky Statue between the Atwood Center and Centennial Hall. SCSU has been able to slow down enrollment declines in recent years. It recently streamlined the number of degrees it offers and has proposed the demolition of some buildings to add green space to campus. Dietz wants to turn its location on the Mississippi River into an asset for SCSU.
